12 Year-Old Drummer

Or at least he was 12 when this was recorded. Tony Royster Jr. is all grown up now, in fact he’s older than me. But in this video, way before he went on tour with Jay-Z, he’s only 12 years-old. And that makes this performance that much more impressive. So sit back and enjoy.

What Happened….

to the NBA Slam Dunk Contest??? If you missed the dunk contest from last night you can always just come up to Waynewood Pool in Alexandria, VA  over the summer and my brother Colin and I can give you a better show than what the nation got last night. The contest used to be exciting. Something to look forward to every February. Now it’s filled with guys who aren’t the best dunkers in the league and who just can’t put on a show. I miss the good old days. For instance, the 2000 edition, when the slam dunk contest was taken over…it was sheer Vinsanity.

The 10th of February was my girlfriends birthday so I went and visited her at North Carolina State University until today. But  now I’m back in Richmond and back to blogging. I’ll start with some funny. Now this guy is not for everyone, but I personally find Jim Gaffigan to be pretty hilarious. This bit is from his stand-up routine, “King Baby”. Enjoy.

Wu-Tang

Nice to see my favorite rappers from when I was just a young lad still making hot music. The lyrics in their songs have always been stellar and that is still true almost 20 years after they released their debut album “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)”. This is Ghostface Killah, Method Man, and Raekwon with “Our Dreams”.

B.o.B & Asher

B.o.B and Asher Roth are both new to the hip-hop scene, they were both members of XXL Magazine’s Freshman 10 class of 2009, but they are lyrically sick and it helps to spit over a Kanye beat. My good friend Will Ramsey put me on to this one.

Say Something

By now many of you have probably heard the song “Say Something” by Drake Feat. Timbaland on the radio. It was produced by beat making genius Timbaland. Yes the same one who is actually in the song. I first heard the song and didn’t really like it. I liked the beat. And apparently other rappers liked the beat too because I’ve heard other versions by other artists. So I wanted to post them and let you all compare them. So listen to each version and, please, say something.

Katt Williams is a stand-up comedian from Cincinnati, Ohio. He’s had some pretty famous stand-up comedy routines including “It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin’” and he had a stint on MTV’s Wild ‘N’ Out. I find him to be hilarious as most people do once they see him in action. This is a short clip from one of his stand-ups “American Hustle” in which he clowns his friend Shaq.

Earlier today, or I guess at this point it was yesterday…the 27th of January, Rashan’s World turned 100. No not 100 years-old, but the 100th post was posted. Rashan’s World is of course run by my good friend Rashan Colbert. Rashan is my oldest friend as we’ve known each other since 5th grade and it was because of his blog that I decided to start blogging myself. So from Hoffman’s Head to Rashan’s World, congratulations!
